Scott Memorial Chapter-AF168 1st Qtr – 2011 NEWSLETTER This Quarter, as
the Quarterly Reports show, we are making headway into trying to meet our
Annual Activity Plan, which was one of my goals when I became President. I consider this a checklist that we should try hard to meet. The more we can do to complete the checklist,
the better we can fulfill the AFA Mission locally, which is to Educate,
Advocate, and Support. I am pleased to
announce that our bank, The Bank of O’Fallon, is once again signed up as a
Community Partner (CP). I am hoping to
get pictures of them and our web maintainer “Art by Jim Denney” placed on our
web page. My goal is to meet with at
least one business a month in order to ask them to be a CP. If you are close with any business/owner and
think they would be a prospective CP, please talk to me, so I can help you
prepare for the meeting. CP memberships
are great, as they help us in two ways.
One, we get the benefit of half of their application fee ($90 basic) to
use right away, and second, they are added to our overall membership total. Again, as in any
volunteer organization, we are still looking for members to get involved. While a few can keep us going, it isn’t good
enough. With over 1,000 members on the
books, we must strive to reach out to those that are not aware of our local
activities, and hopefully find out what spark is needed to make them want to
get involved. To this end, I am trying
to advertise our chapter and in-turn the AFA in anyway possible. Hopefully some of you may have seen different
pieces of information in the “Command Post”, on the 375th AMW Web
“Bulletin- Board”. I have also have had
information placed in several local papers.
Hopefully we’ll be mentioned in the March AFA magazine in regard to the Dupo
High School AFJROTC Unit using their $250 Grant to take cadets to the We are always
open to new ideas on how we can better support our local AFA Mission, so please
feel free to mention them at the meeting or E-mail them to myself or any of our
officers. Alan Gaffney President |
